Cajun on Wheels Food Truck bringing you Gourmet Louisana-styled Seafood Cuisine
Jumping onto the bandwagon that is food trucks sprouting all over the island comes the newest kid on the block – the brainchild of the same people that brought you the popular Arteastiq Pte Ltd (Art Jam Studio and Tea Lounge), a social painting space-cum-café, Cajun on Wheels was launched in November last year as the latest initiative by the F&B enterprise.
A Louisana-style gourmet food truck offering authentic creole seafood cuisine for folks on the go, Cajun on Wheels’ vision is to “serve seafood just the way you like it, without any hassle.” From the choice of location to the diverse menu options available, Cajun on Wheels is hard at work delivering its promise to all diners, providing them a wholesome seafood experience.
Fitting right at home in the heart of town at PasarBella’s new premises in Suntec City, the food truck is parked amidst other trendy food stalls channelling New York City vibes. Picture high ceilings, vivid lightings and graffiti art adorning the walls – the dining atmosphere is both colourful and vibrant, catering to the young and young-at-heart. And indeed, there is something for everyone at Cajun on Wheels.
Busy executives will definitely be queuing up for the Ocean Boxes that allow for a sampling of seafood during lunch time and is also a convenient takeaway option. Highly recommended are the Ocean Boxes that come with one or two sides to be chosen from an array of delectable bites.
As a starter of sorts, the fish with Cajun rice pilaf and truffle fries priced at an affordable $10.50 is a great choice. The rice is soft, fluffy and flavourful, even spicier with the Thai Red Curry that adds an extra oomph to the already tasty fish set meal. The truffle fries are also heavenly – thick cuts of potatoes, fried and fragrant with the truffle oil that are so addictive, it leaves you clamouring for one more piece. Consider pairing the fries with one of the sauces from their selection for an unparalleled combination.
For larger groups, the buckets are excellent opportunities to indulge in a variety of seafood with family and friends. Tables are lined with plastic sheets and plastic aprons provided before feasting to prevent unwanted spillage – simply roll up your sleeves and empty the piping hot contents on the table for the chow down to proceed.
The mains are served in medium-sized red buckets – the Insane Shrimp with Cheesy Cream sauce features fresh prawns drenched in the creamy condiment, served along with sweet corn, potatoes and chicken spam. Next up was the pun-ny Oh Crab, a Sri Lankan crab drizzled with Salted Egg Yolk dressing and served with the same mix of sides, the liquid gold a savoury complement to the seafood favourite – both crab lovers and salted egg yolk fanatics are bound to enjoy this seafood dish.
